The 17th Street Market
What: Two-hour clinic focused on bluegrass guitar. Bring your own guitar or contact the 17th Street Market Music store to purchase or borrow a guitar.
When: Saturday, March 17th, 2012 from 2-4 PM.
Where: The 17th Street Market, 840 E. 17th Street, Tucson, is located in the Armory Park Artist Warehouse District. Directions can be found on www.seventeenthstreetmarket.com.
Who should attend: Beginning through intermediate guitar players who would like to enhance their bluegrass rhythm guitar skills.
Our instructor is Greg Morton. Greg Morton has been playing Bluegrass Guitar for 42 years, having won numerous contests such as the Mid-South Championship on Guitar and Mandolin, the Arizona State Championship, and Best Acoustic Guitarist via the Tammies Awards for three years.
Greg has toured and recorded with Mark O' Connor, Buck White and the Down Home Folks or The Whites. Greg played for three years on The Don Ho Show in Honolulu, Hawaii, and toured with the USO to Europe and the Orient.
Greg has shared the stage with the likes of Bill Monroe, John Hartford, Sam Bush, Dan Crary, Norman Blake, and many other Bluegrass Greats.
Greg has recorded a CD entitled "When Pigs Fly" along with Mark Robertson-Tessi, Jim Stanley, Sam Bush, Roland White, Peter McLaughlin, Brad Davis, Roland White, Curtis Burch, Barbara Lamb, Randal Morton, John Cowan, Heather Hardy and Big Jim Griffith.
Greg also recorded a Solo Guitar CD simply entitled Greg Morton "Solo Guitar", with 14 Bluegrass instrumentals.
What to expect or learn from this guitar clinic: Greg will be teaching a beginner to advanced class on subjects such as; good practice techniques, right and left hand techniques, playing clean and clear, playing nice melodies within the chord, or "The Mother Mabelle / Norman Blake Style", how to play with other musicians, as well as new chords to enhance your playing.
We will jam together, and have a question and answer session as well.
Greg's workshops are always Fun, Entertaining and Educational.
