The
DBA
The Desert Bluegrass Association (DBA) was formed in Tucson,
Arizona in March, 1995 to promote, preserve and perpetuate traditional
Bluegrass music in Greater Tucson and Southern Arizona. The DBA is an
all volunteer non-profit organization consisting of not only local members
but numerous visitors (snowbirds) from throughout the United States and
Canada.
The purpose of the DBA is to –
-
Provide monthly meeting places (jam sessions) for all enthusiast
Bluegrass musicians (pickers) and non-musician listeners (grinners).
-
Publicize information about Bluegrass music events to the membership
and public.
-
Develop various Bluegrass music workshops to share methods, ideas,
and techniques among equally enthusiastic musicians.
-
Encourage and promote various concert series on behalf the local
Bluegrass community.
-
Develop, plan, operate, and coordinate the Annual Tucson Bluegrass
Festival held each October.
-
Support local, regional, national, and international artists.
-
Publish and distribute a bi-monthly newsletter to the paid-membership
containing news, events, reviews, and noteworthy tips.
As a very energetic group of Bluegrass pickers, singers, and grinners,
the Desert Bluegrass Association is always seeking members committed to
traditional Bluegrass music and the wonderful fellowship it provides through
the many events available in Tucson and Southern Arizona.
